frequently
asked questions
Q: What is WebSimHockey ?
R : WebSimHockey is a new virtual hockey league concept, a
Simulator developped by hardcore hockey fans. You play the General Manager of a
professional hockey team, but you also make coach decisions and you are in
charge of the marketing and finance department.
Each decision that you take will have an impact on your team. Do you think you
can lead your team to a dynasty? Don't forget that 23 other GMs just like you
will try to reach the top.
Q: What are the differences between
WebSimHockey and the other virtuel hockey leagues?
R: WebSimHockey will get you as close as it has ever been to a
genuine hockey league. You will take decisions on equipment investment, travels,
marketing, luxury suites, advertising contracts, etc.
All the decisions you make are done directly on the Website. There is no software
to be installed, no lineup to be sent by email. You will do everything on the
Website like strategies, trade offers, lineups, live draft and more. No matter
where you are, you can make changes to your team as long as you have an internet
connection.
Q: I would like to play in
the same league with my friends?
R: Depending on how many people you are, you can start a private
league and when all of your friends have joined, you can complete the league by
making it public. On the other hand, if you are only a few people, you can send
us an email to
leagues@websimhockey.com so we can make sure you are together.
Q: I would like to start my
own private league. How should I proceed?
R: Send us an email at
leagues@websimhockey.com with the name of your league (maximum 6 caracters)
and a password. As soon as we create the league for you, your guests will be
able to join it.
Q : Is it possible to
play in a 30 teams league?
R : No, it is not. All of our leagues have exactly 24
teams.
Q : I subscribed but I
haven't heard anything since then. What should I do?
R : There might be a delay from the time you subscribed
until the league is complete with 24 GMs. A league will only start when 24 GMs
have paid their subscription. If you haven't paid your subscription, you will be
placed temporarily in a league "UNPAID". You have 15 days to pay the
subscription fees otherwise your account will be automatically deleted from our
records.
Q : I do not wish to
wait for a league to be completed. Can I play in an existing league?
R : Yes, you can. You have to subscribe as a Replacement
GM. If a league needs a new GM, you will receive an email. But, it is important
to understand that there are way more available GMs than open seats in our
leagues. Your best chance to play in a league is definitly to start in a new
league.
Q : What is the cost to
play in a league?
R : The cost is 19.95$ per season.
Q : What are the payment
methods?
R : You can pay by Paypal (recommended) or by check. All
the payment informations are explained in detailed after you have subscribed.
Q : What is the
duration of a season?
R : Each team plays 82 regular season games. The calendar
has about 172 days. The playoffs can last up to 28 days. With the off-season
activites, a full season can take approximately 7 to 8 months.
Q : Can we select an
NHL team with their players?
R : No. The players are attributed to the teams by doing
a 26 rounds universal draft.
Q : Does
the NHL season have an impact on my WebSimHockey league?
R : When your league is created, you use the players
attributes based on the last full NHL season.
Once the league has started, the attributes will evolve independently of the
NHL. The players will progress mostly depending on their age. (see the info
center for all details)
Lorsque votre ligue est créée, vous utilisez les cotes des joueurs établies en fonction des statistiques de la dernière saison complète de la LNH.
Q : Will the new NHL
players be added to my league (rookies)?
R : Yes. After each season, the NHL rookies that played
at least 15 games in the NHL are added through a 2 rounds entry draft.
Q : Can I draft
players from other leagues than the NHL (AHL, KHL)?
R : No. Only the NHL players are available at the draft.
Q : Is there a Salary
Cap?
R : Yes, there is. The Salary Cap is configurable by the
commissioner of your league. Any team going above the cap will pay a punitive
tax of 1$ per dollar above the cap.
For all informations on the Salary Cap, please refer to the Info-Center.
Q : How does the
simulation of the games work?
R : The Commissioner simulates the games once a day. All
the games get simulated at the same time, instantly. Then, you can log on and
see if your team won, if players are injured, see who won the 3 stars of the
day, see who are the league leaders, and much much more.
Even though we suggest that there is only one simulation per day, there could be
2 simulations per day if that was the league's wish.
Q : How do the players
trades work?
R : You can make trade negociations using the message
section with the other GMs of the league. There is also a section to make trade
offers and check received offers.
If the other GM accepts your trade offer, it might have to be accepted by the
Commissioner and/or the trade committee if the Simulator does not consider it
fair.
As soon as the trade has been confirmed, the players, draft picks and money (if
applicable) are automatically transfered to both teams.
Q : Can I make a
single payment for my private league?
R : Yes, you can. You will have the responsability to
gather the money from the other GMs. If that is your decision, please contact us
at leagues@websimhockey.com to
benefit from the 60$ rebate when making a single payment.
Q : I am already the
commissioner of a simulated league. Can I import my league on WebSimHockey and
use the same team rosters?
R : Yes, you probably can. Contact us at
leagues@websimhockey.com for all
details.
Q : What is the role
of the Commissioner?
R :
- Schedule the leagues activities (draft schedule, time allowed per steps,
etc.)
- Simulate the games, daily (5 seconds)
- Fix the teams lineups when they are invalid if the Simulator can't do it (very
rare).
- Create the divisions and conferences (Only once)
- Manage draft schedules
- Answer the GMs questions
- Please the majority
